A real-life example – a sustainable, cost-effective alternative to new software licenses
It was a year 2020. A globally operating electronics group had committed itself to a strict non-cloud strategy to last until 2025, however, required to increase its pool of licenses for Microsoft products, such as Office 2016, MS Visio, and MS Project, due to business growth. To explore alternatives to new software licenses, company members contacted TAP.DE Solutions, a strategic Capefoxx business partner, specialising in workplace and process consulting.

An intensive consulting phase followed, during which business consultants from Capefoxx and TAP.DE clarified all basic formal and legal conditions, as well as calculated overall savings potential.
As a result, it was an easy decision for the electronics company’s officials to make – a subsequent internal review of Capefoxx’s quote unearthed no reservations of any kind – technical, financial, nor legal.
Hence the decision was made to purchase relicensed Microsoft licenses at a cost of approx. 400,000 euros, as opposed to a purchase price of 1.2 million euros originally calculated for the same amount of new licenses. At least 800,000 euros were saved as a result, with no penalty in productivity nor other necessitated compromise – a lump sum of money that is very welcome for other desirable investments. “Up to 70 per cent less on the price tag” and a sustainable approach to company’s software management — that is surely something to think about.
